In My Key — Terms of Service

In My Key is currently in private beta. These Terms cover the product as it works today and describe features that are planned but not yet available; planned features are governed by these Terms (as updated) when released.

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the In My Key Chrome extension, the web app at https://inmykey.app/app/, and related features (together, the "Service"). By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. The Service is in private beta

In My Key is offered as a private beta, provided on an early-access, "as is" and "as available" basis. It may contain bugs or incomplete features, and features may change, break, be added, or be removed at any time; the Service may be interrupted or discontinued.

There is currently no login system or backend account, and your data is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for your own device and browser security, and you should not treat the beta as your only copy of important information.

Features referenced here as accounts, cloud storage, or the coach/student platform are planned and not yet available, and will be governed by these Terms (as updated) when released.

3. What In My Key does

In My Key is a singer-focused vocal practice tool. Today it offers pitch/key shifting, tempo adjustment, A/B looping (currently up to 3 loops), and saving songs and practice settings to a personal library. It works alongside YouTube in your browser to help you practice.

In the future, In My Key plans to offer accounts for singers and vocal coaches, cloud-synced libraries, and a coach/student platform (student profiles, vocal tendencies, goals, exercises, homework, lesson notes, coach notes, and shared repertoire), subject to the consent and privacy practices in our Privacy Policy.

4. No affiliation with YouTube, Google, or Chrome

In My Key is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or partnered with YouTube, Google, or Google Chrome.

  • In My Key does not download, copy, host, cache, record, or redistribute YouTube videos or audio.
  • You access YouTube content through YouTube itself, subject to YouTube's own terms.
  • In My Key stores only your practice settings and metadata (URLs, video IDs, titles, pitch, tempo, loops, notes, status/progress) — not the underlying audio or video.
  • You are responsible for complying with YouTube's Terms of Service, Google's terms, and all applicable copyright and other laws when accessing third-party content.

"YouTube," "Google," and "Chrome" are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only to describe how the Service works.

5. The Chrome extension

The extension runs on YouTube pages to provide the practice features you request, and requests only the permissions needed for that purpose. It is not designed to track your browsing on unrelated sites, and we do not sell your data — see our Privacy Policy for what it reads and stores. You are responsible for installing it from a legitimate source and keeping your browser current. Your use of the extension is also subject to the Chrome Web Store's and your browser's terms.

6. Accounts and your responsibilities

When accounts are available, you agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and be responsible for activity under your account. Notify us at fb@florbario.com if you suspect unauthorized access. During the beta, where data is stored locally, you are responsible for the security of your own device and browser profile.

7. Age and eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to form a binding contract and consent to data processing in your country, whichever is higher. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian's involvement and consent. If the coach/student platform is used with a student who is a minor, additional parent/guardian consent may be required (see the Privacy Policy).

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Download, copy, distribute, or redistribute YouTube or other third-party audio or video, or otherwise infringe anyone's intellectual property rights.
  • Use the Service in violation of YouTube's terms, Google's terms, or any applicable law.
  • Reverse engineer, tamper with, disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems.
  • Harass, abuse, or harm others, or upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful content.
  • Misrepresent your identity or your relationship with any coach, student, or other person.

We may suspend or limit access if we reasonably believe these rules are being broken.

9. Content you access and content you create

Third-party content. In My Key helps you practice with content (such as YouTube videos) that you find and access yourself. You are solely responsible for that content and for having the right to use it for your practice.

Your content. You keep ownership of what you create in the Service — notes, saved settings, repertoire metadata, goals, and (later) profiles and lesson materials. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display this content as needed to run the Service for you and, where you choose, for coaches or students you connect with. You are responsible for the content you create and share.

10. Coaches, students, and shared content (planned)

When the coach/student platform launches, coaches and students will be able to connect and share content only with the student's explicit consent. A student will be able to pause or revoke sharing; revoking stops future sharing. Coaches and students are responsible for using shared information respectfully and lawfully. In My Key provides tools for teaching and practice — it does not supervise or take responsibility for any coach's or student's pedagogical decisions or conduct.

11. Educational tool only — not medical advice

In My Key is an educational and practice tool for singers. It is not a medical device or healthcare service, does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and is not voice therapy or speech-language pathology.

  • "Tendency" tags, voice profiles, and exercises are pedagogical observations and practice guidance, not clinical assessments or diagnoses.
  • Coach notes and lesson notes are educational guidance, not medical advice. Any voice therapy or medical services are provided independently by qualified professionals, not by In My Key.
  • If you have vocal pain, persistent hoarseness, fatigue, injury, or any medical symptom, stop and consult a qualified medical or vocal-health professional.

You use vocal exercises at your own risk and are responsible for practicing in a healthy, sustainable way.

12. Our intellectual property

The Service — including In My Key's software, extension, web app, design, branding, name, logos, and content we create — is owned by In My Key or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. Apart from the right to use the Service under these Terms, we grant you no rights in our intellectual property, and you may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of it except as allowed by law or with our permission.

13. Subscriptions and payments (future)

The Service is free during the private beta. In My Key may introduce paid plans or subscriptions later (for example, for active singers, coaches, or studios). If we do, we will show the prices, billing terms, renewal, and cancellation details before you are charged, and payments will be handled by a third-party provider. Full payment, renewal, and refund terms will be added here before any paid plan launches.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service anytime and (in the beta) remove local data by deleting saved items or uninstalling the extension. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if we reasonably believe your use creates risk or legal exposure, or if we discontinue the Service or beta. Sections that should survive termination — intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — continue to apply.

15. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or fit your needs, and as a beta it may change or stop working at any time. We are not responsible for third-party services such as YouTube, Google, or Chrome, or for content you access through them.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, In My Key and those who operate it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. To the extent we are found liable, our total liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD 100. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

17. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, especially during beta, and may update these Terms as the product evolves. For material changes we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Argentina, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be handled in the competent courts located in Argentina, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
